My story...
My name is Susan Adamu, I am the founder of MALEKA NATURALS. I am a vet. surgeon by training, and I have a masters degree in Biomolecular & Biomedical Sciences, UK.
My journey into natural skincare started when I was 18. I had just finished secondary school and I was experiencing acne on my face; I started to use natural lemon juice to cleanse my face in the morning and evening, followed by aloe Vera gel as moisturiser. I planted aloe Vera plant in our small garden which made it easy for me to cut a branch in the morning and rub the gel on my face, after cleansing. I would also use cucumber sometimes on my face to reduce the sebum production, and to fresh up. Within a short time my skin was changed for the better, and my friends saw the difference, and began to ask me for skincare advice. They would also refer their friends to me which I loved , and I often referred them to natural products. I didn’t think much about it, neither did I think about natural skincare as a career or business. I studied veterinary medicine at university, and I went into small animal practice after graduation.
However, in September 2021, I lost my sister and best friend suddenly, and my life was to change forever. That was when I realised that life is short, and I decided I wouldn’t waste my time on anything that was not important to me, not anymore! Two months later, in November 2021, the idea of natural skincare came to my mind, I immediately ordered for some Organic SHEA BUTTER, Cocoa butter, rosehip oil, and other natural oils, and I started to make body butters; I gave some to my friends and they loved it, and gave me very encouraging feed back. That was how I began to sell my body butters. I then registered for a Diploma in Organic skincare, and Diploma in organic Haircare, both of which I finished in record time. I continued to formulate natural skincare and haircare products during my studies, basically putting into practice what I was learning, which helped me to remember what I was studying. I am currently working on my Diploma in natural soap making… This is how MALEKA NATURALS started, and as the saying goes, the rest is now history!
